Pacing is a term used to describe how fast or slow a story moves along. It can change at different parts of the story. It can be difficult to find a good pace for each portion. Generally, quiet, less exciting scenes should move by faster to avoid boring the reader, however, this is not always the case. As long as the scene is interesting to the reader, an author can usually get away with a long conversation or a quiet moment. Such scenes are excellent opportunities for Character Development.
